New Year greetings to all readers of A secular priest. May it be a year in which you come closer to the Lord who gives new life.
January 1st is the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God.
For those in Brisbane, if you didn’t get to Mass this morning, there is still the opportunity: Mass will be offered at 7pm tonight, 1 January 2013, at Saint Bernardine’s Church, 25 Vergulde Road, Regents Park.
Happy new year Fr Adrian and I take it you’ve finished your studies so congrats. Wish I read this earlier. I looked everywhere for afternoon Mass as I realised it was obligatory. Ended up going to Inala’s Vietnamese Mass. At least it will prepare me to go and visit Vietnam one day as that’s where my wife is from.

Hi Louis, glad you found a Mass! (Today isn’t a holy day of obligation in Australia, though – but good to go nonetheless!) It’s nice to be back here in Brisbane, and close to home.

Lol! It wasn’t obligatory?! It is in the US so I assumed here too! Maybe God’s way of getting me out there and honouring our Blessed Mother. It was still a packed Church so good on the Vietnamese community.

Yeah, the only days of obligation in Australia are August 15 (Assumption of the BVM) and December 25 – and of course, every Sunday.
