In those parts of the world already using the new translation of the Mass, people will have noticed the imagery of “dew fall” with reference to the Holy Spirit in Eucharistic Prayer II.  Whilst the Sequence of Pentecost always alerts me to other ways of thinking of the Holy Spirit, I must confess that the imagery of “dew fall” has certainly made me stop and think, because I probably tend to rely on the “fire” image much more.  “Dew fall” and “fire” seem to be contradictory at first glance.

In speaking about the blessing of grapes, Fr Z offers some nice reflections on the imagery of “dew fall” with reference to the Holy Spirit, here[I suspect I will be doing a fair amount of ‘pointing’ on my blog, e.g. “Fr Z. says …”!]
